In 2018, the City's Minority Business Program was implemented with the collaboration of the Division of Procurement and Risk Management's Minority Business Program Coordinator and the Office of Economic Development's Minority Business Development Coordinator. The collaboration will create the opportunity to enhance existing services, programs, and offerings, as well as create new and innovative efforts to help advance woman-and-minority-owned businesses. Businesses will benefit greatly from a robust Minority Business Program.

The Minority Business Program is designed to promote the startup of minority- and woman-owned businesses in the City and the growth and expansion of existing City minority- and woman-owned business. Additionally, the program is focused on increasing the number of minority- and woman-owned businesses that are registered vendors with the City and to encourage more City spending with such businesses. This will be done by developing individuals/start-ups and existing businesses that need assistance growing their business to the point that they are ready to sell their products and/or services to the City of Charlottesville.
